Fiona started as a regulator at the UK’s Environment Agency before joining SRK, working in both the South African and UK practices. Specialising in the application of good international industry practice, Fiona’s global mining knowledge assists her in communicating ESG risks in a language understood by mine managers, investors, corporate decision makers and other stakeholders. Fiona’s experience spans: preparation and management of impact assessments; undertaking due diligence studies; advising clients with project engineering studies (PEAs, PFSs, FSs etc.); inputting to Mineral Resource/Reserve reporting; and management planning (particularly for water, waste and closure).
She works with multidisciplinary due diligence teams, commenting on ESG matters associated with new and existing mining and infrastructure projects as input to competent persons reports, mergers & acquisitions and financial transactions. She has been the independent engineer (environment) for several loan agreements in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe and contributed expert opinion to international arbitrations.
